Canajoharie School District recently issued the following announcement.
The Canajoharie Central School District is accepting nominating petitions from qualified residents interested in seeking a seat on the Board of Education. One term is expiring this year, and the seat is for five years.
The seat presently occupied by Rachel Mason will become vacant as of June 30.
Petitions can be picked up at the district office during normal school hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Completed petitions are due by 5 p.m. on April 16.
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18-years-old, qualified voters in the school district and able to read and write. They must be residents of their school districts continuously for one year before the election. They cannot be employed by the board on which they will serve, or live in the same household with a family member who is also a member of the same school board.
The Board of Education election and annual school budget vote will take place on Tuesday, May 15 from noon to 9 p.m. at the high school.
