It's almost here! The 2017 National Baseball Hall of Fame weekend celebrates the current stars and legends of baseball, and it takes place this year on July 28-31.
A high point in the weekend's festivities is the induction of the Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2017. This takes place on Sunday, July 30, at 1:30 p.m., at the Clark Sports Center. The Class of 2017 - Bud Selig, Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, Ivan Rodriguez and John Schuerholz- will be inducted in a 2-3 hour ceremony.
More than four dozen Hall of Famers, including Sandy Koufax, Wade Boggs, Rod Carew, Nolan Ryan, Ken Griffey Jr. and Hank Aaron, are expected to attend the induction ceremony and associated events.
The Award Presentation starts at 4:30 p.m. at Doubleday Field. Gates open to the public at 3 p.m. The Parade of Legends will follow, beginning at 6 p.m. A private reception is scheduled at the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum, for members.
As a fundraiser for the Hall of Fame, the Play Ball with Ozzie Smith event is open to 60 participants, with $875 donation for non-members, or $675 for members of the Hall of Fame. During the two hour event, participants will interact with Ozzie Smith, Randy Johnson and Ryne Sandberg.
A members-only event, the Legends of the Game Roundtable, is scheduled for July 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Doubleday Field.
